Demand prediction to optimize public transportation

Overview

The Singapore government wanted to optimize its public transportation system, which includes subway, buses and taxis, in order to adequately respond to moments of high demands from the public.

 

Opportunity

We developed a predictive system for events happening in Singapore and their effect on the country's transportation systems. The system built was capable of identifying traffic anomalies and querying different search engines to automatically extract information that would justify such anomalies.

Impact

This system enabled the Singapore government a better understanding of what impact events would have over certain areas of the city, and allowed the government to adjust the supply of public transportation to meet the expected public demand.

The result was a better experience for the public, by being able to leave the events comfortably and with less waiting times for transportation.
